“CASETTA LOLA”, loc. POGGIO ZUCCO

September 16, 2017, 11:30 am

Presented by Alberto and Roberto Dambruoso Gramiccia

On Saturday, September 16 at 11:30, at “Casetta Lola” (loc. Poggio Zucco), the inauguration of the first edition of Sculptures in the Field: Contemporary Art and Archeology in Bassano in Teverina will take place.

The project Sculptures in the Field comes from a happy coincidence: at the closing of Lucilla Catania’s exhibition InMateriale, held at the Museo Carlo Bilotti of Rome in the period of April-June 2017, some of the artist’s sculptures were positioned on her property in Bassano in Teverina – a town of Tuscia which distances an hour and a half from Rome. The location, particularly beautiful from a naturalistic point of view and surprisingly rich in valuable archaeological sites, is well suited to accommodate works of sculpture. Thus was born the idea of creating a contemporary place immersed in Nature and History.

The project, shared with Alberto Dambruoso and Roberto Gramiccia, has the ambitious goal of creating, with the times and methods that will be required, an outdoor sculpture park which can house the works of all those artists who wish to leave their mark on this corner of the Bassanese countryside: a land caught between the nearby Park of Monsters of Bomarzo and the Tower of Chia, which was a refuge for Pierpaolo Pasolini in the last years of his life.

The initiative is supported and sponsored by the City of Bassano in Teverina, the Pro Loco and the Archaeological Group Bassanese, which is an integral part of the project. It has, furthermore, the Patronage of the Lazio Region and the Province of Viterbo.

During the inauguration, the exhibition catalog, published by Palombi Editori, will also be presented. Through the texts of the two curators and of the archaeologists involved in the project, the catalog highlights the themes and objectives of the initiative.

Sculptures in the Field is the first event organized jointly by the Cultural Associations for Contemporary Art: Hidalgo Art, and the Tuesday Critics.
